Here's a tantalizing oddity from April 1943. An orchestra devoted exclusively to the funky, old-time canyengue style of tango music! I don't know which is more tragic: not being able to hear the music, or not being able to watch the dancers who showed up for this "Extraordinary Dance." And of course, what a thrill it would have been to visit the San Lorenzo De Almagro Athletic Club, home to one of Argentina's top professional football teams!
Do any of our readers have further information about Romeo Gentile? All we can find is that violinist Oscar Herrero played in his band on Radio Argentina in 1941. If you know anything, please pass it along and we'll add it here.
