Here's a nifty ad for a radio performance of "Verdemar" and "La Luz De Un Fósforo" from the El Mundo "Dance Guide" of December 6, 1943. "Verdemar" had recently been recorded by its composer, Di Sarli (with Roberto Rufino), by Miguel Caló with Raúl Iriarte, and by Mario Maurano with Libertad Lamarque, so I'm guessing that listeners would have been very eager to hear what Troilo would make of it. He never recorded the song, but we can dream, can't we?
Note the nifty lettering, design, and layout by Publicidad Santa Cruz. I love the two different styles of A in Aníbal, those crazy off-center O's in Fósforo, and the delicate pointillist filigree framing Gordo's face! I almost want to have this tattooed on my arm....
