From our 1940s Milonga Advertising series: Osvaldo Donato (1908-1975) had been the pianist for all of his brother Edgardo's orchestras since 1927. He was the composer of SACALE PUNTA, SOY MENDIGO, EL HURACÁN, UN LIBRO, and 23 other tangos, valses, and milongas. In May of 1943, after personnel problems resulting from a love triangle among the orchestra's three singers, the Típica Edgardo Donato bifurcated into a new orchestra formed by Edgardo, and another formation led by Osvaldo which included most of Edgardo's former band and singer Horacio Lagos. On Sunday, December 5, 1943, the Típica Osvaldo Donato began an engagement at the Confitería El Diamante at Rivadavia 2699. Vocalists were Horacio Lagos and Roberto Galvan. Here's how it looked in the newspaper that morning....
